Fuel Level Monitoring Rollout — Sample Case Study

A Zambian transport and logistics operator was relying on manual dipstick readings, twice a day, across four depot fuel tanks — slow, easy to get wrong, and impossible to catch a slow leak between checks.

What we did

  • Installed fuel level sensors on all four depot tanks, wired into a low-power telemetry gateway.
  • Built a live dashboard showing tank levels, consumption trend and refill events, hosted on our own cloud platform.
  • Set threshold alerts for rapid unexplained drops, sent straight to the site manager's phone.
  • Trained depot staff on the dashboard and handed over documentation for adding tanks as the fleet grows.

Outcome

The client moved from twice-daily manual readings to continuous monitoring, and the alerting caught two tanks with slow leaks in the first month of operation — both fixed before they became a stock-loss problem.
